Night Out
This weekend was Julie's bachelorette party. We went out in Kalamazoo and Julie had a good time, even when she was dancing with the old guy! It was fun to see some of my high school and college friends I haven't seen in a while as well as help Julie celebrate this exciting time in her life. Jason also enjoyed having Jacob to himself. He did a great job taking care of him and I came home feeling very lucky that I have such a wonderful husband and baby.
I thought I would give everyone an update on what Jacob is up to these days. He is getting to be a busy little guy. He loves to play and is always excited to have something new to play with. He is almost sitting up on his own but for now he is doing well with a little assistance. He also likes to play on his tummy and see what he can get to by reaching and rolling. However his all time favorite thing to do is play with dad and have Daddy blow on his belly until he can't stop laughing.
Jacob is also becoming an eating machine. He loves barley cereal and green beans. Peas are not his favorite, but with a picky mom like me I'm not surprised. Jacob tried squash for the first time today and he didn't seem to mind them so we will see!!Monday, July 23, 2007

Whitecaps
Jacob and I filled in for Dad at the Whitecaps game last night with Mom's family. It was nice to spend time with Mom's sisters, Uncle Mike, and Grandpa. The Whtiecaps won and we had a great time despite the cool evening. Jacob even got a short nap and was happy to look around the rest of the game. Thanks Nancy and Mike for letting us come along!!!

Rainy Weekend
(Jacob & Kelly in Traverse City)We spent this past weekend at the cottage with Brain & Kelly, unfortunately it was a little rainy. Due to the bad weather on Saturday we made a trip up to Traverse City to check out the cherry festival. It was Jacob's first trip to Traverse City and he seemed more interested in Kelly than the city. We also did a some lounging around, napping and playing blokus while waiting for the weather to clear so we could get some summer sun. Despite the weather we had a good time and enjoyed relaxing at the cottage.

Biggest Fan
Who thought using a spoon could be so hard?

Getting Jacob to eat solid foods has been a very messy process. He would rather play with the spoon than eat of of it. However after 2 weeks of working on it he his doing a great job. He really likes the oatmeal cereal, especially when Grandma feeds it to him. Doesn't he look good in his Nascar bib.

Jacob has also graduated to the highchair. He loves to sit by us when we eat dinner!!

Family & Fireworks

Last night we went to Mom & Dad's house for a picnic dinner and the fireworks. It was fun to have Tom & Teresa back after their big move last weekend from NC. Grandpa VanHeest was there to celebrate with us as well. Grandma Bouwens came with Grace and Claire who were very excited to see baby Jacob and watch the fireworks. The girls loved watching baby Jacob play with his feet and suck on his little hands.

Dad, Jason, and Grandpa getting ready for the fireworks to start. I think Grandpa had to keep Jason awake for the show. Jason was a little tired from Hockey practice.
