Another Boo Boo

Jason got another Boo Boo last night at hockey, this is what happens when a stick hits your face at a very fast pace. He decided not to show me until this morning. He did go in and have it looked at on his way to work and the doctor decided that at this point he should just have it glued together rather than stitched. I bet none of you wonder why Jacob takes so many spills and gets hurt so easy. He has inherited the genes from his daddy.

Fun New Activities

Jacob did a few fun new things the last two days. At grandpa & grandma's house on Sunday Jacob tried out their new tent they got for the grandkids. Jacob thought it was really fun to try to climb the walls tipping the tent over. He also liked reading books in it and playing peek-a-boo. This tent will definitely give grandpa and grandma's boys lots of hours of entertainment.

Jacob also had his first carousel ride with Grandma. Grandma felt bad that Jacob was not having the best day so she took him for a little ride. Jacob seemed to really enjoy the speed of the carousel although grandma wouldn't have minded if it went a little slower.

Pink or Blue?

As we get closer to halfway in this pregnancy I'm getting very anxious to know if this little one will be a boy or a girl. (Yes, we are going to find out again this time.) Today when Jacob took his morning nap I was feeling very tired and decided to do a little looking a gender predictors online. (Just for fun)
THE RESULTS:
Old Wives Tales Quiz Girl
Chinese Calendar Girl
Ancient Blood Calendar Girl
I'm also starting to poll family members so far we have one Boy (Mom) and one Girl (Jason). Let me know what you think. Even though this pregnancy has been different I'm still not sure that means its a girl. I love being a mommy to a little boy and would love to do it all over again. Just praying for healthy and happy!!!

Poor Baby

Poor Little guy got hurt today. Jacob got his first fat lip today when he fell trying to get up on his feet in the kitchen. We were both in tears and Jacob was bleeding. Yikes (I don't do well with blood) Luckily Uncle Tom was home and came right over to look at Jacob's teeth. Nothing looked loose, but maybe a little chipped we will have to wait and see. Thanks Uncle Tom for coming over so fast. I guess when you are learning to walk you can slip and get hurt even with bare feet. Needless to say I guess he's his daddy's boy in yet another way, accident prone!

Good thing when daddy got home he fed Jacob lots of Grandma's cookies to cheer him up!!!

Happy Easter

Today we had a great Easter Sunday enjoying a nice church service and brunch with Jason's family. Followed by a relaxed afternoon at home and a quick visit from my mom and dad safely home from Florida. Jacob also did some more walking today! I am beginning to feel the baby move and Jason is hopeful that he will soon be able to feel the movement as well. Looking forward to our ultrasound in a few weeks!

Long Trip Home

Getting home from Florida was a little bit of an adventure but that said Jacob got his first bus ride out of the whole ordeal. When we left Florida on Friday we knew the weather here was less than nice but our flights were on schedule so off we went. Arrived in Detroit with no problem and even got on our plane for Muskegon thinking we were going to be ahead of the worst of the storms. Unfortunately after circling Muskegon for about 15 minutes our plane was re-routed to Travers City. Yeah... Not our idea of Home. Then the airlines put us all on a bus and bussed us back to Muskegon in the snowy icy weather. Long, Long day!! Luckily Jacob was a good little rider on the bus and survived on fruit, milk, and chips for dinner.

Florida

Jacob and I spent the last 10 days in Florida spending time with both sets of Jacob's grandparents and visiting with his Great-Grandma Bouwens. Although Jacob has been to Florida before this time he really got into the fun of Florida, spending lots of his time going in and out of the pool!!! Somedays I could barely set down our towels before Jacob made his way into the pool without me. Jacob had his first taste of ice cream going once with Grandpa DeWitt and once with Grandpa Bouwens. By the second time he really didn't want to share any more. I guess he has his dadddy's love for ice cream!!! Thanks to both sets of Grandparnets for letting us stay with you and enjoy some time away from this wintery weather at home.
You may be thinking after browsing these pictures why does that little boy always have on that brown and orange safari hat, and that would be becuase although his grandmothers were nice enought to buy him cute hats to match his swimsuits he wants nothing to do with them and will only wear this one orange hat. So you may or may not see this hat on Jacob in every outdoor picture of him all spring and summer unless I find another one that fits him like this one with the sides snapped up out of his way.

Boys will be Boys

The boys went to Iowa this past weekend in the search of burried treasure. They did not come home empty handed, 12 sheds were found in total with 1 match set off a 10 point. The weather was pretty good accept for Saturday when we woke up to 2" of fresh snow on the ground.

This is the match set that was found practically touching each other. I dont know what the chances are of this happening but I have never found them this close together before. Not real long tines but it is extremely heavy all the way to the tips.

While I did try to train Quincy to search for sheds she wasnt much help besides keeping us company and chasing a few rabitts. Maybe by next year she will be able to do a better job.

Self Feeding 101

Jacob has been showing his Independence a lot lately, including his desire to be the one putting the spoon or fork into his mouth. I on the other hand have been enjoying the control of feeding him but last night we decided at dinner to let Jacob at it and feed himself. It was a big mess but better to do it at home than while eating out and about.
This new phase of Jacob's life will definitely be a challenge for me as I hate messes like that but then I remind myself that just a year ago he was only days old and I need to enjoy each moment as they go way to quickly.

Butterflies

Sunday Jacob and his cousin Gisele went on a special trip with grandpa and grandma DeWitt to Frederik Meijer Gardens to see the butterflies. Grandpa and Grandma said it was really busy but the kids still had fun seeing all the butterflies, plants, and other kids at the exhibit. They were also lucky enough to go out for lunch at Bufflo Wild Wings where they apparently made some new friends.
Eating at Bufflo Wild Wings!!!!
Jacob loved standing in this cradle when he stayed with Grandpa and Grandma last weekend and had a little trouble sharing it with his big cousin.

Weekend Visitors

This weekend we were lucky enough to have 2 visitors that live far away come to visit. My longtime friend Julie was in town from Dallas for a long weekend and came to see us Saturday afternoon. We were so happy she had time during her busy weekend to stop by for a little bit and play with Jacob.

My Aunt Jaci was also in town for the weekend and came over with my grandpa VanHeest for pizza and to play with Jacob on Saturday night. Jacob was a little shy with aunt jaci until it was bedtime. Then he wanted to use her as a mountain to climb on. Yes, he already knows how to avoid bedtime. :)

Thanks for the visits!!!

Viva Las Vegas

Everyone always asks what were your seats like, so I tried to make a panorama. This is from our seats before the race started, we were 100 yds. down from the start finish line about 25 rows up. We could see all of the track except the entrance of turn 3 where the infield tower blocked our view. Click on the picture to open a better quality picture and scroll left and right. You can also click on our pictures link to a full gallery of pictures from the trip.

This was the first time we had to dress like this at a Nascar Race. It was 60 and windy, once the sun went down it got real cold.

It is hard to beat a fillet with blue cheese from Mon Ami Gabi inside the Paris Hotel, I highly recommend this place if you are in Vegas. The bread is awesome too, it was Scott's birthday so they brought him a little dessert.

Happy Birthday Scott!

The Planet Hollywood casino were we stayed was recently remodeled with a trendy atmosphere. While not as fancy as some of the other casino's it had a youthful atmosphere. I scoped it out when I was here for work and thought it would be a fun place to stay.

The guys did a little site seeing when the girls were shopping and rode the roller coaster at New York New York. It is pretty unbelievable to see the extent they go to so you spend all your money before you leave. Carrot Top says that is why they put in all the fountains, so you can leave all the change in your pocket as well.

This was a botanical garden in the Bellagio, the picture doesn't quite show the size and mass of plants but it was quite amazing, every plant in here is real.

Fun @ Grandpa & Grandma's

Jason and I went to Las Vegas for a long weekend and Jacob was lucky enough to spend the weekend with Grandpa & Grandma DeWitt. Here are a few pictures of the fun Jacob had while at Grandpa and Grandma's house. Grandpa even gave him a few new names while he was there. Maybe Grandpa can share them!!!!

Thanks for taking such good care of our little guy!!!

For those of you who are interested I will try to get Jason to post some pictures of our trip.

Happy 1st Birthday Jacob

To celebrate Jacob's 1st birthday we had a safari party with our families! Look at all those goodies!

Jacob dove into the presents excited to open them at first but after a little while he was happier to climb into boxes than to open presents so we let Gisele help him out a little bit.

After presents is was time for cake! Daddy helped Jacob blow out the candles!! Jacob had a lot of fun with his cake and was so messy with all that frosting the he ended up in the sink!!
Thanks to everyone who made Jacob's 1st birthday memorable!
