Our Little Pumpkin

At Daddy's work Jan wanted to treat Jacob to a sucker.

We had a busy Halloween and Jacob definitely had his costume on and off plenty of times. Next year I'm going to look for a costume that fits in a car seat! We made sure to see all the grandparents and great-grandparents with Jacob in his costume over the past few days and visit Daddy at work!! Here are a few pictures of the festivities which did included taking even Quincy trick or treating after the rain cleared!

In case you can't see it Quincy was a spider. Jason felt bad for her and bought her a costume.

Adventures at Target

So today I had no plans of going to Target but surprise surprise ended up there. Mom wanted me to look at the Radio Flyer Wagon that was on sale for Jacob and Gabriel for Christmas. Sounded like an easy tasks we like it or we don't. Well ends up we had to take one entire wagon out of the boxs just to check that all the parts were in it and then as we get to mom's car realize her trunk is already full with porch furniture that she is taking to storage. Luckily the nice guy helping us this entire time helps us wedge the wagons in the car one on either side of Jacob. Jacob and mom are both laughing hysterically when this helpful guy jokingly tells us we need to stop going to pier one before target and then we would have room for our purchases.

(It was really fun, but you may have had to be there.)
Here is a picture of the wagon the boys will be getting on Christmas. As a note normally we DO NOT Christmas shop this early.

Mac n' Cheese Man

Jacob's newest favorite food is Mac n' Cheese! He will no longer sit back and watch mom and dad eat. If were eating he wants to be eating too! Even if it's right before bed. Jacob was having a rough Saturday so when daddy got home from hunting he though sharing his mac n' cheese with Jacob would do the trick and it did!

Update

This weekend seems like it is flying by and Jacob seems to be doing and finding new things everyday. He sure has a way of getting into things he shouldn't and can't get out of. It also appears that he is getting his first tooth!!! Sadly Jason was the first one to see it. I notice his gums were a little swollen on Friday but passed it off as my imagination. Then Saturday night before we went out for dinner with the Slagh's Jason mentioned that it looked like Jacob was getting a tooth and sure enough it is already breaking through the gums. It's a sharp little one and not really visible due to Jacob's fast toung movements. I will blog a picture of the tooth as soon as you can see and not only feel it. Here are a few pictures of Jacob and his weekend mischief.

After lunch Jacob just wanted to help clean up but didn't understand that when trying to stand up you can easily fall into the dishwasher. Jacob did fall in the dog bowl yesterday but I was a little to eager to get him dried off and clean up to find it funny at the time and take a picture.
Jacob can successfully get under his exerscaucer but can't seem to figure out how to get out so Daddy has to come to the rescue every 10 minutes. Jacob also gets stuck under our barstolls.
Jacob and Daddy ready for their first Father son bonding in the woods. Jason and Jacob went for a long walk in the woods so that mom could get a few things done before lunch.
Lastly, Mom & Dad do have a life! We went out for dinner with the Slagh's in Grand Rapids last night. It was Jacob's first time having a babysitter put him to bed other than Grandparents. He did great!!!

Halloween Cookie Party

This afternoon I had my sixth grade girls from RUSH over for a little Halloween cookie party. They had so much fun and made such a mess! (For those of you who don't know I'm working with our middle school youth group at church this year.) I'm so amazed by how much you learn about kids by just spending a little time with them. I feel so blessed to be apart of their lives and feel that it was truly God's plan to have me working with the youth at our church in this capacity. Here is a picture of what the girls left for Jason! It was a fun afternoon and the mess was cleaned up in no time.

Pictures

Still don't know why I couldn't post pictures for days but here are some cute one of our trip.
Jacob at the fair checking out the turkeys!
Uncle Dan giving Jacob his first check-up. Were still not sure if he will need braces. I guess we will have to wait until he gets teeth to get Dans expert opinion.

Visiting Uncle Dan & Aunt Jayme

Jacob and I went with my mom down to NC for a long weekend to visit my brother and his wife Jayme. They are living in NC while Dan finishes up his schooling to become an orthodontist. We haven't seen them since they moved when Jacob was only 2 months old. It was a relaxing weekend and we had beautiful weather. The temperature had cooled off for them and was in the low 70's and sunny everyday. Friday morning we went to the State Fair to see the animals. Jacob did well looking around and relaxing in the stroller. We also went to visit Dan's school and Jacob even got to sit in Dan's chair. He was Dan's smallest patient and the only one who didn't have teeth. It was a great to see you Dan and Jayme!! Thanks for having us down to visit! We will see you in 2 months.

Blogger wont let me post pictures, I will try again later. :)

The Park

Sunday after lunch at Keith and Mary's we went over to the park and Jacob had his first swing ride. He seemed to think it was pretty fun. He also liked helping Grandpa drive the golf cart.

Saturday

Saturday morning started bright and early for Jason. He went duck hunting with Mark, Dan and Eric and had to get up a 4:00 a.m. YUCK!! As a group they shot about 15 duck despite the hot weather and Jason neglecting Quincy by leaving her home to sit in the garage for the day.

After returning from his big morning hunt we headed out to the big Pumpkinfest parade. I still can't believe it was 87 degrees today. It was a little warm to sit and watch a parade but we still had a good time as a family. (Hard to believe Jason was at a parade on a Saturday afternoon during hunting season.) It was fun to see so many people we knew in the parade. One of our favorites was Kelly Meeuwsen waving from the ZFS float. By the time the parade was almost done Jacob's little face was as red as a tomato, poor little guy has his dad's skin, so we headed for home and beat the traffic. (Don't worry Grandma's he had sunscreen on he was just hot!) Jacob and Jason were both zonked by the time we got home and took a nice nap together.

Pumpkin Fest

We went down to pumpking fest with Jason's family last night. Jacob wasn't sure what to think of it all. We tried to get a few pictures of the Jacob and Giselle with the fall pumpkings but they weren't so into it. Oh, well we had a good time and it was a beautiful night. Jacob also played his first carnival type game with grandpa. He won a sucker and two tickets!!!

Tigers Whip the White Sox

We went to the last Tigers game for 2007 with a group of friends last Sunday. It was a great day for a game in the windy city. We had a big bus full of people and our seats at US Cellular Field where right behind the Tigers bull pen.

We got to see a lot of the players up close and managed to get a few autographs on our hats. (Grilli & Rodney) Maglio even gave us a nod from right field as we cheered him on from the stands.

We had a lot of Tigers fans in our section and they played well for us. Mags locked up the batting title and Rabelo hit his first home run on their way to a 13-3 beating of the Sox. Not that it matters but the Lions beat the Bears as well, and we made sure to tell the surrounding Sox fans about that.

Welcome Gabriel Thomas Bouwens

My brother Tom and his wife Teresa gave birth to a beautiful baby boy at 1:30a.m. Saturday morning. We made a visit to Gabriel Thomas on Saturday afternoon and the new family seemed to be doing well. Congratulations Tom and Teresa!!!
