Big Star Fun

We spent another weekend up at Big Star with the Huyser's. Norah seemed to stay out of trouble, that can not be said so easly about Jacob. He seemed to get into everything and is really into climbing on things.

Jacob even managed to give Mom a little scare, Dad was taking some pictures of him on the dock and he proceeded to make his way a little bit out from the beach. He then proceeded to dive/fall in head first in about 2 feet of water. Dan made a Baywatch rescue and Jacob was just fine, a little shaken and needed a hug from mom. Norah enjoyed the boat ride but Jacob either disliked his life jacket, boat or both.

Work Weekend

Jason and I spent most of the weekend trying to organize our overflowing storage room and getting things ready for the baby. It still doesn't look like we got a lot done but with a little more work I think we will be there. I'm sure it will be nice to have an organized storage room when the baby comes so we can find things we might need for him.
The nursery still looks pretty sad considering that the dressers both had to go back to be refinished because they came damaged. The valance still needs to be hung, carpet is coming on Wednesday and the decorative painting will hopefully be done the middle of August. I will post pictures once it looks presentable. (that might not be until after the little guy arrives)
Lastly, on a more fun note here are a few cute pictures of Jacob from the weekend.

Jacob has new love for shoes!

Playing with his new sprinkler ball that he got from his cousin after having surgery this week. (No Swim Suit Necessary for this little guy)

Daddy decided he and Jacob both needed to work on covering up their farmers tan so they went shirtless for a little while on Sunday afternoon.

Successful Surgery

Jacob made it through his surgery today successfully. The surgery was less than 15 minutes and the doctor didn't see any other issues. Unfortunately Jacob had a hard time getting over the awkward feeling from the gas so, Mommy and Daddy had a very discontent little boy for a few hours afterwards until he finally took a nap. Thankfully when he woke up for lunch he was pretty much back to his old self. Thanks for all the kind thoughts, prayers, phone calls, visits and presents for our little guy. Here are a few pictures pre-surgery. He was a little to upset for any pictures after.
Pretty sure that face is asking why we are not still in bed sleeping at 6:30 in the morning.
Jacob didn't think there was anything wrong with his own PJ's and seemed perplexed by us putting him into this snazzy blue set.
Jacob and Mommy waiting for the nurse to come in with his sleepy medicine.

1st (REAL) Hair Cut

On our way home from the cottage this weekend Jason and I decided it was time for Jacob to get a hair cut. He spent the weekend looking like Dennis the Menis with his hair sticking up in the back. No amount of hairspray or gel was going to fix this little guys hair. He's been blessed with his Daddy's extra curly colic's.
So today after lunch Jacob and I were off to Quick Clips. In less than 10 minutes we were in and out. Jacob only fussed when they tried to put the cape on. Once I decided he didn't need to wear it we were set. With a yummy green sucker in his mouth he sat perfectly. I guess the fact that he has a mean Mommy that doesn't let him have candy much made it work as a nice bribe today.
Just as last time when Jason cut Jacob's hair I was sad later in the day when I looked at him and he looked so old. :( He really is starting to grow up way to fast. I wish I could just keep him at this stage it is SOOOOO fun!! He makes me laugh all the time with his silliness and brings tears to my eyes with what a sweet personality he has always saying Hi to everyone and giving hugs and kisses. Most people are enjoying his hugs and kisses but last week Carter wasn't so sure about getting a kiss from a boy.
Lastly, please pray for Jacob (and Me) as Jacob will be having his tubes put in on Wednesday morning. I'm getting a little nervous but I know it is for the best. Last week when we went to the doctor and he still had fluid in his ears, the doctor said after 4 months of fluid his hearing and speech could be affected and it was best that we were having the procedure done soon. Jason doesn't know if he's ready to have Jacob talking more but I'm sure it will be music to our ears to hear all the new things he has to say. (For those of you who don't know Jacob he is pretty vocal for 16 months so we will see if there is really any change to what he says it maybe more of a change it what he hears.)

Silver Lake

Well we made a successful trip back to Silver Lake after an 8 year break. Test hill was still no match for the big red truck, I tryed my best but was unable to break anything on the truck. I guess I will need to find another excuses to buy some parts. Brian did an excelent job taking pictures of me fooling around on test. I really appreciated all his help with the work we did getting ready for this weekend. We did manage to make a couple succesful 2WD ascents much to the amazement of the guy next to us at the top. He claims we were the only truck that he saw make it in 2WD, I said he must be blind then.

This is a picture I took on the back side of test hill. What is significant about it? If you dont know you wont understand. I think this may be the first time I watched my truck disappear down a dune only to reappear on the top of the next. Needless to say someone took the long way around to test hill, I was just praying he didnt get stuck. Safe and sound back at the top of Test Hill. Someone made it without any problems, all I can say is Gitty Up! We are now looking for a couple other projects to cart the kids around in some day.

Busy Boy Exhausted Momma

After a fun day of playing outside with my little guy I'm one tired momma. Jacob was like a little energizer bunny today. Sweet as can be but just didn't want to sit still or nap. We played with every toy imaginable. I think the only thing we didn't do was take out the sticky bubbles.

After Jason's softball game Jacob found the sprinklers. Being so tired he got in the spray and just stood there like he was in a daze. Fun day of playing but I'm hoping he takes some good naps tomorrow!
